Front Crankshaft Seal: Service and Repair
1. Remove crankshaft damper as outlined under Harmonic Balancer/Service and Repair.
2. Using screwdriver behind front cover seal, pry out seal. Do not score cover bore for seal or crankshaft.
3. Lubricate seal lips with engine oil and position seal to front cover with garter spring side toward engine.
4. Using seal installer No. J 38818 and harmonic balancer installer No. J 39344 or equivalents, push seal into front cover until it bottoms on cover.
5. Install harmonic balancer.
