Audible Warning Device: Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview
All vehicles are equipped with a Chime Module which sounds to inform the driver of a condition which requires attention. The Chime Module also
controls the seat belt indicator in the Instrument Panel Cluster.
The Chime Module will sound when any one of the following conditions occurs:

The headlights, fog lights (Eldorado/Seville), or park lights have been left on and the ignition has been turned OFF. The fast chime warning sounds
and continues until the headlights, fog lights (Eldorado/Seville) or park lights are turned OFF.
NOTE: This warning will not occur when Twilight Sentinel is operating the lights and the Park Lights and Headlight Switches are OFF.

The key has been left in the ignition with the ignition in ACCY, LOCK or OFF and the driver's door is opened. When this occurs, the Chime
Module sounds the medium chime until the driver's door is closed, or the key is removed from the ignition, or the ignition is turned to RUN.

(4.9L) The engine metal temperature exceeds 150°C (302°F). When this condition occurs the medium chime will sound and the Driver
Information Center will display the message "STOP ENGINE-ENGINE OVERHEATED".

(Northstar) The engine coolant temperature exceeds 131°C (270°F). When this condition occurs the medium chime will sound and Driver
Information Center will display the message "STOP ENGINE-ENGINE OVERHEATED."

The oil pressure is dangerously low. When this condition occurs the medium chime will sound and the Driver Information Center will display the
message "STOP ENGINE-LOW OIL PRESSURE".

The driver's seat belt is not buckled when the ignition is turned to RUN. The Chime Module sounds the slow chime for 4 to 8 seconds and the seat
belt indicator illuminates for 60 to 90 seconds. If the driver's seat belt is buckled the chime will not sound and the seat belt indicator will not light.
If the driver's seat belt is unbuckled after the ignition is turned to RUN the seatbelt indicator will light for the remainder of the 60 to 90 second
timeout. The seatbelt indicator will not light if the driver's seat belt is unbuckled after the first 60 to 90 seconds of the ignition cycle.
In addition to the Chime Module, export vehicles may be equipped with an overspeed alarm (UD4) or a catalytic converter over temperature alarm
(UD6).
Vehicles with the overspeed alarm (UD4) are equipped with an Overspeed Alert Module which sounds an alarm at vehicle speeds of 120 kmh (75 mph)
or more.
The catalytic converter over temperature alarm system (UD6) has an Alarm Module, Catalytic Converter Over Temperature Sensor, and a Speaker. The
Alarm Module sounds the Speaker at catalytic converter temperatures above 810°C (1490°F).
