Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer): Service and Repair

ECT SENSOR REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT

NOTICE: Allow sufficient time for engine to cool before removing Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor. Excessive coolant loss or
personal injury may result if engine is hot.

NOTICE: A non-hardening sealer should be applied to the sensor threads prior to installation to prevent coolant leaks. Use P/N 1050805 or
equivalent.

NOTICE: Care must be taken when handling the ECT sensor. Damage to the ECT sensor will affect operation of the fuel injection system.

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT

1. Partially drain coolant system.
2. Throttle control cable from cruise control servo bracket.
3. Cruise control servo and bracket. Refer to Cruise Control / Service and Repair for details.
4. ECT sensor connector.
5. ECT sensor.

INSTALL OR CONNECT

1. ECT sensor. Tighten ECT sensor to 12 Nm (106 lb. in.).
2. ECT sensor connector.
3. Cruise control servo and bracket.
4. Throttle control cable to cruise control servo bracket.
5. Refill coolant system.
