2. Relieve fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel System Pressure Relief Procedure. See: Fuel Delivery and Air Induction/Service and Repair
3. Quick-connect fittings at engine compartment fuel feed and return pipes and EVAP pipe:

a. Grasp both ends of one fuel pipe connection and twist 1/4 turn in each direction to loosen any dirt in quick-connect fitting. Repeat for other

fittings. Using compressed air, blow out dirt from quick-connect fittings.

CAUTION: Safety glasses must be worn when using compressed air, as flying dirt particles may cause eye injury.

b. Insert tool into female connector, then push inward to release male connector.

4. Raise vehicle and suitably support.
5. Quick-connect fitting at fuel filter. Refer to Fuel Filter (In-Line) Replacement Procedure. See: Fuel Delivery and Air Induction/Fuel

6. Hardware retaining section of pipe to be replaced.
7. Section of pipe to be replaced.
8. Using a clean shop towel, wipe off male pipe end. Inspect connectors for dirt and burrs. Clean or replace components/ assemblies as required.

NOTICE: If it is necessary to remove dirt or burrs from the engine compartment fuel pipe, use emery cloth in a radial motion with the pipe end to
prevent damage to O-ring sealing surface.

INSTALL OR CONNECT

CAUTION: To Reduce the Risk of Fire and Personal Injury:

If nylon fuel pipes are nicked, scratched or damaged during installation, they must be replaced.

When installing new fuel pipes, Do Not hammer directly on the fuel harness body clips as it may damage the nylon pipes resulting in a possible
fuel leak.

Before connecting fuel pipe fittings, always apply a few drops of clean engine oil to the male pipe ends. This will ensure proper reconnection
and prevent a possible fuel leak. (During normal operation, the O-rings located in the female connector will swell and may prevent proper
reconnection if not lubricated.)

1. Position new fuel pipe in original location.
2. Remove protective caps from fuel pipe.
3. Apply a few drops of clean engine oil to the male connector pipe end.
4. Quick-connect fitting at fuel filter.

a. Push connector together to cause the retaining tabs/fingers to snap into place.
b. Once installed, pull on both ends of connection to make sure connection is secure.

5. Retaining hardware.
6. Lower vehicle.
7. Repeat connect procedure for engine compartment fuel pipe quick-connectors.
8. Tighten fuel filler cap.
9. Negative battery terminal.

INSPECT

Turn ignition switch to 'ON' position for two seconds, then turn to 'OFF' for five seconds. Again, turn to 'ON' position and check for fuel leaks.
