Ride Height Too Low and/or Air Pump Runs All the Time (Grind Excess Metal from Flange Area)

Condition
Some customers may comment about the ride height being too low. They may also notice that the air pump runs all the time.
Cause
This condition may be caused by the air boot being punctured by excessive weld material at the shock tower reinforcement.
Correction
Grind excess metal from flange area around the shock's air boot.
Procedure
1.
Raise and support the vehicle.
2.
Remove the tire and wheel.
3.
Remove the shock.
4.
Use a die grinder to remove the flange material beyond the weld. Be careful not to remove any more flange flash than necessary. It is suggested
that all radius are 6.0 mm.
5.
Make sure to leave a smooth surface with no sharp corners or burrs, where grinding operation was performed.
6.
After grinding operation is complete, use an enamel paint, or equivalent, to cover all bare metal that has been exposed.
7.
Install the shock. Tighten upper nut to 75 N.m (55 lb ft) and lower nut and bolt to 108 N.m (80 lb ft).
