Driver/Vehicle Information Display: Description and Operation
REMOVE KEY
The IPC displays the REMOVE KEY message alternating every 3 seconds. The delay is followed each time by the following messages:
1. WAIT 3 MINUTES
2. WAIT 2 MINUTES
3. WAIT 1 MINUTE
The messages continue until you turn the ignition key to the LOCK position. This condition results from the detection of DTC B2780. The purpose of
the messages is to inform the driver to remove the key before retrying it. Remove the key may wipe away any contamination on the key. The message
also inform the driver to wait 3 minutes between each attempt, deterring the use of a questionable key and hindering vehicle theft. A malfunctioning lock
cylinder may cause the same condition.
