Door Glass Scratch (Replace Molding/Glass)

Condition
Some customers may comment that their door glass is scratched.
Cause
The outer belt seal strip (reveal molding) may be tight to the glass.
Correction
1.
Remove the reveal molding. Refer to Window Replacement - Front Door (SI Document ID # 512702 Front Door; Rear Door ID # 512703).
2.
Take a measurement between the inner and outer hem flange at three locations. Refer to the illustration above. The right front door is shown; the
rear door is typical.
3.
Close the door.
Notice:
Care should be taken in the next step at the location closest the door handle to prevent damage. Over bending in this location may cause a distortion
in the door skin.
4.
Wearing gloves, pull on the outer door skin at the three locations shown until the measurement is 3 mm (1/8 in) larger than the original
measurement.
5.
Replace the reveal molding. Refer to the Reveal Molding Replacement (SI Document ID # 533513 Front Door; Rear Door ID # 533514).
6.
Install a new door glass. Refer to Window Replacement-Front Door (SI Document # 512702, Front Door; Rear Door # 512703).
