Fig. 4 Exploded View Of Spring
Removal of rear spring requires disassembly of either left or right side of the suspension while leaving opposite side intact. Spring may be
removed from either side of vehicle.
1. Remove lower control arm as outlined.
2. Place a support under outboard end of spring as shown in Fig. 3,then lower vehicle so weight of vehicle compresses spring. Ensure jack stand
can support weight of vehicle and is properly positioned under spring.
3. Remove three spring retainer bolts, retainer and lower insulator, Fig. 4,from end of spring nearest support stand.
4. Slowly raise vehicle, allowing spring to deflect downward until spring no longer exerts force on stand.
5. Remove retainer bolts, retainer and insulator from opposite end of spring, then withdraw spring from crossmember.
6. Remove upper spring insulators.
7. Inspect spring insulators and retainers and replace as needed.
8. Install center and upper outboard insulators in crossmember, then tighten bolts to specifications. Ensure arrows on upper outboard insulators
point toward centerline of vehicle.
9. Position spring in suspension support by inserting through disassembled side of suspension. Ensure outboard and center insulator bands are
centered on spring insulators.
10. Install lower insulator and retainer on side opposite disassembled portion of suspension, tighten retaining bolts to specifications, then place a stand
under free end of spring, Fig. 3.
