Exhaust Pipe/Muffler Hanger: Service and Repair

Exhaust Hanger Mounting Bracket Replacement (6.01- and 8.1. Engines)

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the exhaust manifold pipe. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Pipe Replacement (6.OL, and 8.1L Engines)
2. Remove the catalytic converter. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement (4.8L and 5.3L Engines) or Catalytic Converter Replacement (6.OL and

8.1. Engines).

3. Remove the exhaust pipe hanger bracket bolts.
4. Remove the exhaust manifold pipe bracket.

Installation Procedure

1. Install the exhaust manifold pipe hanger bracket.

Notice:  Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

2. Install the exhaust pipe hanger bracket bolts.

Tighten the bolts to 12 Nm (106 inch lbs.).

3. Install the catalytic converter. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement (4.8L and 5.3L Engines) or Catalytic Converter Replacement 6.OL and

8.1. Engines) 

4. Install the exhaust manifold pipe. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Pipe Replacement (6.OL, and 8.1. Engines).
