Disassembly Procedure
1. Remove the brake caliper. Refer to Front Brake Caliper Replacement .
2. Drain all the brake fluid from the caliper.
Warning
Do not place fingers in front of the caliper piston(s) in an attempt to catch or protect it when applying compressed air. The piston(s) can fly out with
force and could result in serious bodily injury.
Note: The brake calipers use phenolic pistons that have stainless steel caps which contact the brake pads. Use compressed air to remove the piston
from the brake caliper.
3. Secure the brake caliper in a suitable holding device.
4. Insert a piece of wood in the brake caliper between the pistons and the outer bridge.
5. Cover the brake caliper with a shop towel.
6. Apply filtered, non-lubricated compressed air into the brake hose inlet fitting port of the brake caliper.
