Oil Pan: Service and Repair
1982 V6-252 EXC. ELDORADO & SEVILLE
Removal
1.
Raise and support vehicle. Drain oil.
2.
Remove flywheel cover.
3.
Remove exhaust crossover pipe.
4.
Remove oil pan attaching bolts and the oil pan.
Installation
1.
Reverse procedure to install. Ensure oil pan and cylinder block mating surfaces are clean. These engines use RTV silicone sealer in place of a
cork gasket for oil pan to crankcase sealing. If replacement of the oil pan or gasket is necessary, either RTV sealer or a cork gasket may
be used for reassembly. If RTV sealer is used, the pan rail and block mating surfaces should be thoroughly cleaned and a 1/4 inch bead of
sealant applied evenly to the pan rail. Use caution to avoid any breaks or gaps in the sealer during application.
2.
Torque oil pan bolts to 14 ft. lbs.
3.
Torque flywheel cover bolts to 4 ft. lbs.
4.
Lower vehicle and add oil.
