pivot bolt torque is not removed evenly against valve spring pressure.
4. Secure support in vise and individually remove rocker arms and pivots.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
IMPORTANT
^
When installing new components, thoroughly lubricate all parts with an EP lubricant such as axle lube 1052271 or equivalent.
1. Rocker arms and pivots to rocker arm support.
2. Pivot bolts loosely.
IMPORTANT
^
Pivot bolts are self tapping, therefore, a new rocker arm support does not require tapping prior to installation.
TIGHTEN
^
Pivot bolts to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.).
3. Rocker arm support (with rocker arms and pivots installed) over five stud headed head bolts.
4. Each pushrod into each rocker arm seat.
5. Five rocker arm support retaining nuts loosely to head bolts.
6. Four rocker arm support retaining bolts loosely. (Late design only).
TIGHTEN

Five rocker arm support retaining nuts alternately and evenly until snug.
INSPECT
^
Pushrods from time to time while tightening nuts for correct position.
TIGHTEN
^
Four rocker arm support retaining bolts till snug.
^
Five rocker arm support retainer nuts to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).
^
Four rocker arm support retaining bolts to 10 Nm (7 ft. lbs.). (Late design only).
