NEW OIL DRAIN PLUG GASKET TO REPLACE COPPER GASKET
MODELS AffECTED:
1986 AND PAST MODEL CADILLACS WITH 2.0, 2.8, 5.0 AND 6.0 LITER (VIN CODES P, W, Y AND 6)
An improved oil drain plug gasket P/N 14090908 is available to replace the copper drain plug gasket P/N 14079550. The new gasket is a steel washer
with captured O-ring (viton).
The new O-ring/steel gasket is capable of sealing irregular surfaces with light torques while retaining the clamping load over time. Reuse of the
O-ring/steel gasket does not lessen sealing or torque retention characteristics. Recommended torque for the Oring/steel gasket is 12-20 ft.lbs. (16-27
N-m). Excessively higher torques may cause deformation, splitting, or loss of sealing capability.
The use of this gasket is optional and at owner expense.
