Oil Pan: Service and Repair
Oil pan removal & installation
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Battery ground cable.
2. Raise and support vehicle.
3. Two flexplate covers.
4. Drain oil pan.
5. Exhaust crossunder pipe and reposition.
5. Oil pan attaching bolts and nuts.
6. Oil pan.
7. Clean block and oil pan sealing surfaces. Sealing surfaces must be free of oil and RTV.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Oil pan gasket. Apply a 1/4 in. bead of RTV at the rear main bearing cap and front cover to block joints.
2. Oil pan to block.
3. Oil pan attaching bolts and nuts. Tighten to 16 Nm (12 ft lbs).
4. Two flexplate covers.
5. Drain plug and tighten to 30 Nm (22 ft lbs).
6. Exhaust crossunder pipe.
7. Lower vehicle.
8. Fill engine oil to proper level.
9. Battery ground cable.
