SUBJECT:
METAL CREAKING IN LEFT CENTER PILLAR AT LOWER ROCKER
MODELS AFFECTED: 1988 SEDAN DE VILLES AND FLEETWOODS
Some 1988 Sedan DeVilles and Fleetwoods may exhibit a condition of sheet metal creaking at the lower left center pillar area. This creaking is most
apparent on sudden acceleration or stopping. This condition may be caused by a movement of sheet metal in the center pillar lower rocker area.
FIGURE 1 - LOWER ROCKER FLANGE
To repair this condition, reform the lower rocker flange (refer to Figure 1) inboard about 6 mm by using a hammer and caulking spoon. Test drive the
vehicle to confirm this repair eliminated the creaking. In the event this does not correct the creaking, contact the CADSTAR at 1-800-CAD-STAR for
further assistance.
For warranty purposes, use Labor Operation T6281 at .2 hour.
