The old design nut, P/N 22527148, is silver in color and has a flange on the bottom side. The new design nut, P/N 25526968, is gold in color and does
not have a flange (see Figure 2).
If a front strut module is repaired for any reason, the upper strut mount nut must be torqued to the proper value. The 1985 through 1987 FWD
DeVille/Fleetwood and 1986 and 1987 Eldorado and Seville Service Information Manuals improperly stated the torque for the strut mount nut. The
non-flanged design nut should be torqued to 75 N-m (55 ft.lbs.). Proper torque on the flanged design nut is 100 N-m (75 ft.lbs.).
