Resistor Module (SIR): Service and Repair

1.

Deactivate airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG DEACTIVATION.

2.

Remove two center trim plate retaining screws, then the plate.

3.

Remove knee bolster, refer to KNEE BOLSTER.

4.

Remove instrument panel steering column reinforcement plate.

5.

Remove hood release lever, then unsnap module from bracket behind left side of instrument panel.

6.

Remove CPA, then disconnect module electrical connector.

7.

Remove module form vehicle.

8.

Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:

a. Following installation, activate airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG ACTIVATION.
b. Turn ignition switch to the On position and verify the ``Inflatable Restraint'' indicator flashes 7 to 9 times then turns Off. If indicator does not

respond, refer to DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING PROCEDURE/TESTING PROCEDURES/RETRIEVING TROUBLE CODES.
