Dimmer Switch: Diagnostic Trouble Code Tests and Associated Procedures
System Check
1.
Put Ignition Switch in RUN (Twilight Sentinel Control: OFF).
Normal Result: Vacuum fluorescent displays are bright.
2.
Put Lamp Switch in PARK.
Normal Result: VF displays dim and Incandescent panel lamps light.
3.
Adjust Dimmer control in both directions.
Normal Result: VF displays and incandescent panel lamps brightness changes with dimmer control.
Troubleshooting Hints
1.
Check I/P Fuse Block Fuse 14 by observing the park lamps.
2.
Visually inspect I/P Fuse Block Fuse 25.
3.
If only one incandescent lamp does not work, check bulb and wiring to suspect lamp (see schematic).
4.
If incandescent lamp brightness does not vary when dimming rheostat is adjusted, replace Lamp Switch.
5.
If only some vacuum fluorescent displays work properly, check wiring to suspect component. Replace component if wiring is OK.
