TIRE SCUFFING FRAME ON FULL TURNS

MODELS AFFECTED: 1984-1989 BROUGHAMS

Some 1984-1989 Broughams may exhibit a condition where the tire scuffs the frame or stabilizer shaft on full turns such as in parking lot maneuvers.
The scuffing condition may be heard and/or felt. As the tire scuffs the frame or stabilizer shaft, it will leave a shiny spot on the area of contact. The
sidewall of the tire may also show slight scuffing, however, the integrity of the tire is not affected.

To repair this condition install steering stops per the following procedure. Installation of the steering stops will increase the turning circle diameter by
approximately three feet.

Parts are expected to be available on January 30, 1989. Until then, normal part orders will not be accepted by GMSPO. Only verifiable emergency VIP
orders will be accepted. SPO will make every effort to obtain parts. All parts will be placed on 400 control to waive VIP surcharges. However, the part
will be shipped premium transportation at dealer's expense. All other order types will be cancelled as incorrectly ordered while the 400 control is in
place.

Service Procedure

1.

Raise car on hoist.

2.

Remove front wheels and tires.

3.

Remove brake calipers and position aside. Do not allow the caliper to hang by the brake hose.

4.

Remove brake rotors.

5.

Remove existing bolt that attaches bottom of dust shield to steering knuckle and replace with bolt, P/N 25534181.
