This bulletin cancels and replaces bulletin T-89-57 issued in January, 1989. This bulletin provides updated repair information for 1989-1990 DeVilles
and Fleetwoods, and 1988-1990 Eldorados, Sevilles, and Broughams with Webasto sunroofs that may have wind noise, glass panel rattle, sun shade
rattles, and loose trim lace. For general service information and procedures refer to the appropriate Cadillac Service Information Manual, Section 10. A
factory-installed sunroof can be identified by CF5 on the Service Parts Identification Label.
Wind Noise
Glass Panel Position
Proper glass panel position is low in the front and high in the rear. The panel should be adjusted to 1-1.5 mm low in front, 1-1.5 mm high at the center,
rear. Proper panel adjustment has been found to eliminate most wind noise comments.
If adjustment is necessary, use Labor Operation B2720 at .5 hour.
Glass Weatherstrip
If proper glass panel adjustment does not eliminate the wind noise at the sunroof glass, continue with the following:
1.
Check seal-to-roof gap by sliding a thin card (business cards work well) along each edge of the glass panel between the sealing surfaces. Some
friction should be present, although the card should slide rather easily. If no gaps are noted, investigate sources of wind noise other than the
sunroof. Look for other known causes or bulletins which may apply.
2.
If a small gap is noted along the front of the glass panel, adjust the panel forward as far as possible. Recheck the gap to be sure a proper seal is
maintained at the rear.
3.
If the vehicle is equipped with a full vinyl roof, inspect to be sure the vinyl top retainer ring is assembled properly. If the trim ring appears to be
assembled properly (straight; does not appear wavy), go to step 4.
