1.
Remove caliper assembly as outlined.
2.
Rotate shoe retainer until tabs are aligned with recesses in piston, then remove shoe retainer, Fig. 2.
3.
If installed remove locknut, lever, lever seal, and anti-friction washer.
4.
Secure caliper assembly in vise and insulate interior of caliper with shop towels.
5.
Remove piston by rotating actuator screw in parking brake apply direction to work piston from caliper bore Fig. 4.
6.
Remove balance spring (24), then remove actuator screw by pressing on threaded end, Fig. 2.
7.
Remove shaft seal and thrust washer from actuator screw.
8.
Pry dust boot from caliper taking care not to damage caliper.
9.
Remove retainer snap ring, then the locator.
10.
Using wooden or plastic tool remove piston seal from caliper bore. Do not use metal tool since this may damage caliper bore or seal groove.
11.
Inspect piston for scoring, nicks, corrosion, and wear and replace as needed.
12.
Inspect caliper housing and seal groove for corrosion, nicks, scoring and excessive wear, and use crocus cloth to polish away corrosion from
housing bore. Replace caliper housing if corrosion in and around seal groove will not clean up with crocus cloth.
13.
Remove bleeder screw. Remove bracket only is damaged.
14.
Clean components with denatured alcohol and dry with unlubricated compressed air. Blow out all passages in housing and bleeder valve.
Mounting Bracket Service
Removal
1.
Remove caliper as outlined previously.
2.
Remove mounting bracket attaching bolts, then mounting bracket.
