Brake Caliper: Service and Repair
Front Brake Assembly
Caliper Removal

1.
Drain approximately 2/3 of brake fluid from master cylinder assembly.

Raise and support vehicle, then mark position of wheel and remove tire and wheel assembly.
3.
If caliper is to be serviced or replaced, remove bolt securing inlet fitting, then disconnect brake hose, and plug end to prevent loss of fluid and
contamination. Do not crimp brake hose, as this may damage internal structure of hose. If only shoe and lining assemblies are being
replaced, do not disconnect brake hose from caliper.

Remove caliper to support mounting bolts, then lift caliper off support. If only shoe and lining assemblies are to be replaced, suspend caliper from
chassis using suitable hanger. Do not allow caliper to hang by brake hose.
5.
Remove insulators (4) from caliper support if equipped, Fig. 1.
