BS02
The Vacuum Fluorescent (VF) dimming override can be controlled from "O" (Max dim) to "99" (Max bright). The display will hold the
override value upon release of the buttons.
BS03
The incandescent bulb-dimming override can be controlled from "O" (Max dim) to "99" (Max bright) if the park lamps have been illuminated.
The display will hold the override value upon release of the buttons.
BS04
The cooling fans override will control to "O" (fan off) or "99" (Max fans) as long as the button is held. Normal control will resume upon
release of the button.
Snapshot Mode
Selection of the "SNAPSHOT?" test type while in the BCM system level will allow the recall of up to three snapshots recorded at the time of the setting
of BCM malfunction codes. Additionally, one may trigger the recording of a snapshot upon demand. Selecting (by pushing the "HI" button) while in the
BCM system, will result in the display of "BXXX" where "XXX" is the 3 digit diagnostic code that recorded the snapshot.
While selecting snapshot, any of the following actions may be taken to control the display:
1.
Depressing the "OFF" button on the ECC panel will stop the test type selection process and return the display to the next available system
selection.
2.
Depressing the "LO" button will allow scrolling through the list of BCM diagnostic codes that the BCM has stored a snapshot for. After the last
BCM diagnostic code, (or the third if there are more than three codes set) pressing the "LO" button will result in the "TAKE BCM SNAPSHOT?"
display. Responding "LO" will return to the first "BXXX SNAP?" display.
3.
Depressing the "HI" button will "SNAP DATA?" or "SNAP INPUTS?" displayed will select that test type. At this point the display is controlled
as it would be for non-snapshot data and input displays. However, all values and status information represents memorized vehicle conditions.
Status Lights
While in the BCM system level in the diagnostic service mode, the mode indicators on the Climate Control Panel (CCP) of the CCDIC are used to
indicate the status of certain operating modes. The different modes of operation are indicated by the status light being illuminated or turned off.
A brief summary of each status light is provided below:
1.
The "FRONT DEFOG" status indicator is illuminated whenever the BCM is requesting the ECM to engage the compressor clutch. The light does
not indicate whether the clutch is enabled or disabled by the ECM, and actual operation depends on the ECM and the integrity of the compressor
clutch system.
2.
The "REAR DEFOG" status indicator is illuminated whenever the BCM senses that the low refrigerant pressure switch is open. The light should
remain off if the refrigerant system is fully charged and being properly controlled. However, when the ambient temperature drops below
approximately -5°F (21°C), the light will come on due to the pressure temperature relationship of refrigerant R-12.
3.
The "LO Fan" status indicator is illuminated whenever the BCM is commanding the A/C-DEF mode door to divert air flow to the A/C outlets, as
in the A/C or normal purge modes. This light will be on whenever the ECC system is in the heater, intermediate, defrost, and cold purge modes.
4.
The "NORM FAN" status indicator is illuminated whenever the BCM is commanding the UP-DOWN mode door to divert air flow up, away from
the heater outlet. This light will be off whenever the ECC system is in the heater or normal purge mode.
5.
The "OFF" status indicator is illuminated whenever the BCM is commanding the RECIRC mode door to the recirculation position (pulls air from
inside of car). The light is off if the BCM is commanding use of outside air. The light does not indicate that the door has responded to the BCM's
command. Actual operation depends on the integrity of the mode door system.
Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes
ECM
To clear ECM trouble codes enter diagnostics. After the segment check and the codes are displayed, select the ECM system level by pressing the "HI"
button, then press the "LO" button to select the "CLEAR CODES?" test type. When "CLEAR CODES?" is displayed, push the "HI" button and the
ECM codes will be cleared.
