Park Brake System Description
PARK BRAKE RELEASE OPERATION
The rear integration module (RIM) controls the operation of the electric release park brake. The RIM uses Class 2 serial data messages to determine if
the correct conditions exist to release the park brake. The conditions, which must occur simultaneously, are as follows:

The engine is running (ignition switch is in the RUN position).

The transaxle is not in PARK or NEUTRAL.

The park brake switch is closed (indicating that the park brake has been set by the driver.)
The RIM releases the park brake by simultaneously energizing two solenoids, A and B, located within the park brake release solenoid. After two
seconds, solenoid A de-energizes; solenoid B remains on as long as the three conditions listed above are true, which keeps the park brake released.
PARK BRAKE SET OPERATION
The RIM allows the park brake to be set by deactivating both park brake release solenoids A and B. provided that the transaxle is in PARK or
NEUTRAL or the park brake switch is open.
