Driver Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the driver seat. Refer to Seat Replacement - Front Bucket in Seats.
2. Remove the pretensioner trim cover by pulling up on the front of the cover and then pulling forward.
3. Remove the CPA from the side air bag/pretensioner yellow 6-way connector located under the seat.
4. Disconnect the side air bag/pretensioner yellow 6-way connector located under the seat.
5. Disconnect the pretensioner 2-way electrical connector from the 4-way side air bag connector.
6. Disconnect the 2-way seat belt switch electrical connector.
7. Remove the nut fastening the pretensioner to the seat.

Installation Procedure

1. Install the pretensioner to the stud on the seat. Notice that the pretensioner has a tab that fits into the seat to insure the pretensioner is in the proper

position.

Notice:  Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

2. Install the nut to fastening the pretensioner to the seat.

Tighten
Tighten the nut to 41 N.m (30 lb ft).

3. Carefully route the pretensioner pigtail harness under the seat.
4. Connect the pretensioner 2-way electrical connector to the 4-way side air bag connector.
5. Connect the side air bag/pretensioner yellow 6-way connector located under the seat.

General Service Precautions

Caution:  When you are deploying a pretensioner for disposal, perform the deployment procedures in the order listed. Failure to follow the
procedures in the order listed may result in personal injury.

Important:  The rapid gas expansion involved with deploying a pretensioner is very loud. Notify all the people in the immediate area that you intend to
deploy the seat belt pretensioner.

Handling A Deployed Pretensioner

Some gas will be visible after deployment. Exposure to this gas is not a health concern. The pretensioner can be handled immediately after deployment.

Scrapping Procedures

During the course of a vehicle's useful life, certain situations may arise which will necessitate the disposal of a live (undeployed) pretensioner. The
following information covers the proper procedures for the disposing of a live pretensioner. Deploy the pretensioner before disposal. Do not dispose of a
live pretensioner through normal disposal channels.

Caution:  In order to prevent accidental deployment of the pretensioner which could cause personal in jury, do not dispose of an undeployed
pretensioner as normal shop waste. The undeployed pretensioner contains substances that could cause severe illness or personal injury if the
sealed container is damaged during disposal. Use the following deployment procedures to safely dispose of an undeployed pretensioner. Failure
to dispose of a pretensioner as instructed may be a violation of federal state, or local laws.

Do not deploy a pretensioner in the following situations:

After replacement of a pretensioner under warranty. The pretensioner may need to be returned undeployed to the Delphi Interior & Lighting
