Power Steering Cooler Replacement Parts and Service Information

2004 Cadillac SRX
Built AFTER VIN Breakpoint 40164075
Modifications to the power steering cooler system have resulted in the following changes:

Effective AFTER the above VIN breakpoint, all Cadillac SRX models will be equipped with a 2nd design "fin" style power steering fluid cooler
assembly.

All Cadillac SRX models built PRIOR to the above VIN breakpoint and equipped with the 1st design "loop" style power steering fluid cooler
assembly, will now be serviced with the 2nd design "fin" style power steering fluid cooler assembly.
The purpose of this bulletin is to provide the technician instructions for installing the 2nd design "fin" style power steering cooler assembly on vehicles
equipped with the 1st design "loop" style power steering cooler assembly.
Installation Procedure
Tools Required:

Metric Thread Setter Kit
^
J 35555 Metal Mityvac
^
J 43485 Power Steering Bleeder Adapter
1.
Open the hood.
2.
Use a metric thread setter kit, Snap-on(TM) HP650M, or equivalent, to install an insert nut into the two existing holes on the engine side of the
front bumper impact bar. Ensure the insert nuts do NOT rotate.
3.
Raise and support the vehicle.
4.
Remove the front air deflector. Refer to Air Deflector Replacement-Front in the Body Front End sub-section of the Service Manual.
5.
Install a drain pan under vehicle.
