Headlamp Dimmer Switch: Service and Repair

1. Place ignition to Lock position to prevent coil assembly from becoming uncentered.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable.
3. Remove steering wheel.

WARNING: Refer to Air Bags and Seat Belts/ Air Bags (Supplemental Restraint Systems)/ Service and Repair/ Air Bag System Disarming &
Arming.

4. Remove two Torx screws from lower column cover. Tilt cover down and slide back to disengage locking tabs, then remove lower column cover.
5. Remove two Torx screws from upper column cover.
6. Remove ignition lock assembly from upper column cover and remove column cover.
7. Remove coil assembly retaining ring from upper steering column.
8. Remove SIR coil assembly. Let coil assembly hang freely.
9. Remove wave washer.

10. Remove two wire harness straps from steering column wiring harness.
11. Disconnect steering column bulkhead connector from vehicle wire harness.
12. Disconnect axial position assurance connector and electrical connector from Brake Transaxle Shift Interlock (BTSI) actuator.
13. Disconnect gray and black electrical connectors of turn signal and multi-function switch from column bulkhead connector.
14. Remove two pan head attaching screws from turn signal and multi-function switch assembly, then assembly from steering column.
15. Reverse procedure to install. Torque switch assembly attaching screws to 53 inch lbs.
