7. Remove the crankshaft rear oil seal.

a. Insert a screwdriver into the notches provided in the seal retainer.
b. Pry out the seal.
c. Do not damage the crankshaft sealing surface.

8. Clean the gasket surfaces on the block and the seal retainer.

INSTALLATION

Tools Required
-

J 35621 Seal Installer, or equivalent.

NOTE:  Whenever the seal retainer is removed, install a new retainer gasket and crankshaft rear oil seal.

 

1. Install the gasket to the block. Use sealant to hold the gasket in place.
