Oil Filter: Service and Repair

Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement 
Removal Procedure 

1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting. See: Maintenance/Vehicle Lifting

Oil Pan Drain Plug And Filter

2. Remove the oil pan drain plug and allow the engine oil to drain completely.
3. Clean the oil pan drain plug surface.
4. Remove the oil filter (2) from the engine block and allow the engine oil to drain completely.
5. Clean the oil filter surface.

Installation Procedure 

1. Install a new oil filter (2) to the engine block. Tighten the oil filter per the oil filter manufacturers instruction printed on the oil filter box.

2. Install the oil pan drain plug.

Tighten the plug to 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.). 

3. Lower the vehicle.
4. Fill the engine with oil.
