Inspect all doors for "Double Hung Hinges" (see Illustration below). If already installed on all doors, no further hinge service is necessary. Install
Campaign Identification Label and return vehicle to owner or to dealer stock. If the vehicle does not have "Double Hung Hinges" already installed on all
doors, proceed with the "REPAIR" portion of this service procedure for those doors requiring "Double Hung Hinges".

REPAIR

NOTICE: Prepaint all new hinges body color prior to installation. Also, painted surfaces of the door and fender should be protected.

Front Door Hinge Replacement

FRONT DOOR HINGE REPLACEMENT (WITH & W/0 POWER LOCKS & WINDOWS):

(Procedure to be performed on all front doors requiring "Double Hung Hinges".)

1.

Mark location of existing hinges on door.

NOTICE: If vehicle does not have power door locks and/or power windows proceed to step 4.

2.

Remove trim panel and loosen water deflector.

3.

Disconnect all electrical connections and remove electrical harness from door.

4.

Remove body-side door check-link bolt.

5.

While supporting door with a floor jack, and with the aid of a helper, remove upper and lower hinge-to-door attaching nuts, and remove door.
Refer to Body Service Section (5L) of Corsica/Beretta Service Manual.

NOTICE: Apply appropriate protection to lift pad of floor jack when removing door to prevent damage to the door or door paint.

6.

Mark location of hinges on body. Remove upper and lower hinge-to-body bolts.

NOTICE: When replacing an original hinge with a service hinge, the following procedure must be performed.

a.

Lay body side of original hinge on sheet of paper and cut template, marking location of bolt holes on template.

b.

Place template on body side of service hinge. Center punch upper body side bolt hole.

c.

Drill pilot hole 6.3 mm (1/4") at center punch. Enlarge drilled hole using proper bit size for model type :

COUPE/BERETTA: 11 mm (7/16") & SEDANS/CORSICA: 8 mm (5/16").

NOTICE: After enlarging pilot hole, apply touch-up paint to any bare metal areas exposed by drilling to inhibit rust from developing in these

areas.

7.

Install service hinges to body (within marks from step # 6) with bolts removed in step # 6.

8.

Install door to service hinges with the aid of a helper and supporting the door with a jack. Tighten door attaching nuts removed in step # 5.

NOTICE: Apply appropriate protection to lift pad of floor jack when installing door to prevent damage to the door or door paint.
