ALL CHEVROLET DEALERS
Incidents of plug fouling in cold climates (below freezing) on 1987 and early built 1988 Cavalier, Beretta and Corsica models with L-4 (VIN Code 1)
engines can occur with short-hop cold engine driving schedules. A hotter heat range spark plug (type ".R44LTSM" with a .035" gap) will lessen or
eliminate the plug fouling condition.
The new plug is available from GMSPO in either a 4-pack, P/N 5614156 or an 8-pack, P/N 5614155.
Spark plug, ".R44LTSM" is a copper core tapered-seat spark plug and replaces the original gasketed spark plug. The aluminum cylinder head machining
will allow either spark plug seat configuration to be installed.
First installation torque of the tapered seat plug is 18-22 ft.lbs. (24-30 N-m.). Subsequent installation torque for new or old spark plugs is 7-15 ft.lbs.
(10-20 N-m.).
