Temperature Gauge: Testing and Inspection
TEMPERATURE GAUGE INDICATES HOT
1.
Disconnect coolant temperature sender connector.
2.
Turn ignition switch ON.

If gauge indicates HOT, check for short in sender wire or printed circuit board.

If gauge indicates COLD, replace coolant temperature sender.
TEMPERATURE GAUGE INDICATES COLD
1.
Disconnect coolant temperature sender connector.
2.
Ground coolant temperature sender wire. Turn ignition switch ON.
^
If gauge indicates COLD, check for open in sender wire or printed circuit board.
^
If gauge indicates HOT, replace coolant temperature sender.
