Air Cleaner Fresh Air Duct/Hose: Service and Repair

Air Induction System

AIR FILTER ELEMENT

REMOVAL:

1.

Disconnect the hold down clip from the upper air cleaner assembly, lift the assembly out.

2.

Inspect the air filter element for dust, dirt, and water.  Replace if necessary.

INSTALLATION:

1.

Install the air filter element and cover.

2.

Attach the hold down clips to the upper air cleaner assembly.

AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY

REMOVAL:

1.

Disconnect one hold down clip from the upper air cleaner assembly and lift the assembly out.

2.

Remove the duct from the upper air cleaner and opening in front end sheet metal.

3.

Disconnect the oil/air separator hose from the lower air cleaner housing.

4.

Remove one threaded stud from the threaded bushing in the lower air cleaner assembly.

5.

Remove the lower air cleaner assembly from the plate assembly studs.

6.

Remove the clamps and rear intake duct from the lower air cleaner and engine throttle body.

INSTALLATION:

1.

Install the rear intake duct to the lower air cleaner and engine throttle body with clamps.  Tighten to 1.5-2.0 Nm (13.0-18.0 lb.in).

2.

Install the lower air cleaner assembly to the plate assembly studs.

3.

Install one threaded stud to the threaded bushing in the lower air cleaner assembly.  Tighten to fully seated position.

4.

Install the oil/air separator hose to the lower air cleaner housing.

5.

Install the inlet duct to the upper air cleaner and to the opening in the front end sheet metal;, making sure that the word TOP is facing upward.

6.

Install the air cleaner upper with filter to the air cleaner lower section, and attach the hold down clip.
