SUBJECT:
INSTALL NEW HOOD PROP ROD WHEN HOOD ASSEMBLY IS REPLACED
MODELS:
1987-94 CHEVROLET BERETTA AND CORSICA
The purpose of this bulletin is to notify retail/wholesale service personnel of a running change to replace the hood prop rod when the hood assembly is
replaced.
New hood assemblies will be for both service and production, which will require ordering and installing prop rod, P/N 22549097. Also required is the
removal of the old prop rod and trimming the air intake splash shield as needed for installing the new prop rod.
SERVICE INFORMATION:
1.
When replacing the hood assembly, use P/N 22576914 for the sedan and P/N 22576917 for the coupe. Refer to "Hood Assembly" on page 10-5-6
in the 1994 Service Manual for remove and install.
2.
To install the new hood prop rod, locate the hood prop rod bracket approximately 1 inch from centerline of front fender attachment. Mark and drill
2 holes using a 4.8 mm (3/16 inch) drill bit, then install rivets. The rear rivet should be installed first on earlier model vehicles. Also, refer to
"Hood Hold Open Rod" on page 10-5-10 in the 1994 Service Manual.
3.
To remove the old hood prop rod, refer to "Hood Hold Open Rod" on page 10-5-8 in the 1993 Service Manual.
4.
Trim the air intake splash shield as needed to fit around new hood prop rod.
