Remove the ground lead retaining screw from the underbody.
8.
Remove the hoses from the fuel tank sending unit.
9.
Remove the fuel tank from the vehicle.
10.
Remove the sending unit retainer cam, using tool J 24187 or equivalent.
11.
Remove the sending unit from the tank.
INSTALLATION:
1.
Install the tank sending unit, using a new gasket.
NOTE: Care should be taken not to fold over or twist the fuel strainer when installing the sending unit, as this will restrict fuel flow. Also, make
sure that the strainer does not block the full travel of the float arm.
2.
Install insulator pads on top of the fuel tank to reduce rattles and other annoying noises. Peel off the release paper on the insulators and apply the
insulators to the tank in the depressed areas. Locate the insulators by starting at the tank flange. Apply tape as shown, using two 100 mm pieces
of tape per insulator.
3.
Position the tank under the vehicle.
4.
Attach the hoses to the tank sending unit.
5.
Reconnect the ground lead to the under body.
6.
Raise the tank into position.
7.
Connect the two fuel tank retaining straps, and tighten the front retaining strap bolt to 35 Nm (26 lb.ft). Tighten the rear strap bolts to 11 Nm (8
lb.ft).
8.
Connect the fuel tank sender unit electrical connector.
9.
Lower the vehicle.
10.
Connect the filler pipe bracket to the under body.
11.
Fill the fuel tank and check for leaks.
