Thermostat

REMOVAL

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Partially drain and recover coolant. 
3. Remove crankcase vent tube.
4. Remove surge tank line from thermostat housing.
5. Remove upper coolant hose from coolant outlet ( if replacing outlet ).
6. Remove housing attaching bolts, water outlet, then thermostat.
7. Clean mating surface.

INSTALLATION

1. Install gasket and thermostat.
2. Install thermostat housing.
3. Install attaching bolt and nut with sealer then torque to 25 Nm (18 lb. ft.).
4. Install upper coolant hose ( if removed ).
5. Install surge tank line to thermostat housing.
6. Install crankcase vent tube.
7. Refill coolant. Refer to Draining and Refilling.
8. Connect negative battery cable and torque bolt to 15 Nm ( 11 ft.lb. ).
9. Inspect for leaks.
