Engine Oil Cooler - Line Leak
File In Section: 6 - Engine
Bulletin No.: 46-62-05
Date: April, 1995
Subject:
Engine Oil Cooler Line Leak (Replace Lines/Trim Away Front of Dash Noise Insulator)
Models:
1994 Chevrolet and GMC Truck C/K Models with 6.5L Diesel Engine (VINs F, P, S - RPOs L65, L49, L56)
CONDITION
The engine oil cooler lines may develop a leak at the rear of the engine.
CAUSE
If the engine oil cooler lines are in contact with the front of dash noise insulator pad, normal motion of the engine on the mounts can cause the oil cooler
lines to rub against the pad and wear a hole in the lines.
CORRECTION
Replace the lines as required following the Service Manual procedure (6B1-26). Also, trim away sufficient material from the front of dash noise insulator
pad to provide clearance for the lines as needed to prevent contact with the engine running. It is permissible to also gently bend the lines in the area
where they pass near the pad to gain additional clearance, but only if necessary.
