TO:
ALL CHEVROLET DEALERS
General Motors has determined that certain 1989-90 C/K 1500-3500 Series Extended Cab Trucks contain incorrect instructions on how to properly
adjust the rear seat shoulder belts. Since the instructions provided do not describe "proper use" of the seat belt assembly, they fail to conform to the
requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 209, "Seat Belt Assemblies".
In order to comply with FMVSS No. 209, and reduce owner inconvenience, Chevrolet Motor Division will mail owner's manual inserts with correct rear
seat lap-shoulder belt instructions to owners of record. The information in these inserts replaces the "LAP-SHOULDER BELTS" information found on
pages 1-9 through 1-11 of the 1989 owner's manual or pages 1-10 through 1-12 of the 1990 owner's manual.
