Oil Pan: Service and Repair
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
IMPORTANT: Do not raise the engine block by the crankshaft balancer to perform this service procedure. Damage to the crankshaft balancer or the
crankshaft may occur.
1. Disconnect the battery negative cables from the batteries.
2. Remove the oil level indicator and tube from the engine.
3. Raise the vehicle.
4. Support the vehicle with safety stands.
5. Drain the engine oil.
6. Remove the transfer case from the vehicle if equipped.
7. Remove the transmission from the vehicle.
8. Remove the clutch assembly if equipped.
9. Remove the flywheel from the crankshaft.
10. Remove the oil pan bolts from the oil pan.
11. Remove the oil pan from the engine block.
12. Remove the rear seal on the from the oil pan.
13. Clean the old RTV sealant from the oil pan and engine block.
