Flywheel: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

1. Remove the transmission.
2. Remove the flywheel bolts.
3. Remove the flywheel.
4. Clean the mating surfaces of the crankshaft and the flywheel.  Remove any burrs.
5. Inspect the flywheel for burning, scoring, warping, and wear. Replace the flywheel if necessary. Do not machine the flywheel.
6. Inspect the flywheel ring gear for worn or broken teeth.

INSTALLATION

1. Install the flywheel.
2. Install the flywheel bolts.

Tighten the flywheel bolts to 100 Nm (74 ft. lbs.).

3. Install the transmission.
