Fuel Pressure: Testing and Inspection
Pressure Testing the Injection Pump

1. Drain all fuel from the pump

2. Connect an air line to the pump inlet connection.

Make sure the air supply is clean and dry.

3. Completely immerse the pump in a bath of clean test oil.

Seal oft the return line fitting.

4. Raise the air pressure in the pump to 137.9 kPa (20 psi). Keep the pump immersed in the oil for 10 minutes to allow any trapped air to escape.

5. Watch for leaks after the ten minutes. If the pump is not leaking, reduce the air pressure to 13.8 kPa (2 psi) for 30 seconds. If there is still no

leakage, increase the pressure to 137.9 kPa (20 psi). If there are no leaks, the pump is ready for use.
