Oil Pump: Service and Repair
1.
Remove oil pan as outlined previously.
2.
Remove oil pump to rear main bearing cap attaching bolts and remove pump and extension shaft.
SERVICE
Disassembly
1.
Remove pump cover attaching screws and pump cover.
2.
Remove drive gear and idler gear and shaft from pump body. Mark gear teeth so that they can be reassembled with same teeth indexing.
3.
Remove retaining pin, pressure regulator valve and related parts.
Inspection
1.
Inspect pump body and pump gears for damage or excessive wear. If either pump body or pump gears are damaged or worn, entire oil pump
assembly must be replaced.
2.
Check pressure regulator valve for fit and drive gear shaft for looseness in pump body.
Assembly
1.
Install pressure regulator valve and related parts. Install idler gear with smooth side of gears toward pump cover opening.
2.
Install gears and shaft in oil pump body.
3.
Install pump cover.
INSTALLATION
Reverse removal procedures to install. Align hex on lower end of vacuum pump driveshaft with hex on top of pump drive extension shaft. Install oil
pump to bearing cap bolts and torque to 67 ft. lbs.
