A new lift-off panel sealingstrip sealing material was introduced into 1984 Camaro production in March of 1984. This material replaces the double
backed sealing tape previously installed on the sealingstrip. The material is packaged by Dominion Sure Seal, under part number BTP, in 100 foot rolls.
If a lift-off panel weatherstrip butt joint water leak is encountered on styles built before March of 1984, it may be caused by inadequate sealing of the
sealingstrip to the lift-off panel support. To correct this condition, the following procedure should be followed.
1.
Remove lift-off panel and place on a clean protected surface.
2.
Remove lift-off panel weatherstrip, weatherstrip retainer and sealingstrip, following Service Manual procedure.
3.
Clean the double backed tape from the sealingstrip.
