CRANKSHAFT PULLEY BOLT
Model and Year: 1981-1984 CHEVROLET CHEVETTE MODELS EQUIPPED WITH 1.6L
GASOLINE ENGINE, AIR CONDITIONING AND POWER STEERING
TO:
ALL CHEVROLET DEALERS
To avoid a potential for the crankshaft pulley bolt to fracture on 1981-84 Chevrolet Chevette models equipped with a 1.6L gasoline
engine, air conditioning and power steering, the crankshaft pulley attachment on these models will be replaced. A fracture of the
crankshaft pulley bolt may allow the accessory drive pulley to separate from the crankshaft causing a loss of engine power and power
steering assist.
In addition, General Motors is offering reimbursement for owner incurred repair expenses due to a previous pulley bolt fracture on
these same models. Eligibility for reimbursement is described in this bulletin.
