Cracks appearing perpendicular to the belt ribs indicate normal wear. If sections of rib are missing or if the belt is slipping, the belt must be
replaced. The belt tensioner has a wear indicator, and if it is out of limits, either the belt or tensioner must be replaced.
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Using a ratchet and socket, push tensioner clockwise and remove serpentine belt, Fig. 9..
3. Reverse procedure to install.
