Throttle Body: Service and Repair
Throttle Body Assembly
Throttle Body with MAF
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Drain the radiator coolant.
2. The air intake tube.
3. The idle air Control (IAC) valve, throttle position (TP) sensor, mass air flow (MAF) sensor, and engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor
electrical connectors.
4. The accelerator control cable bracket.
5. The accelerator control and cruise control cables.
6. The nuts and bolts holding the throttle body to the intake manifold.
7. The throttle body assembly.
CLEAN AND INSPECT
The gasket surface on the intake manifold and the throttle body assembly.
CAUTION: Do Not use solvent of any type when cleaning the gasket surfaces on the intake manifold and the throttle body assembly, as damage
to the gasket surfaces and throttle body assembly may result. Use care in cleaning the gasket surfaces on the intake manifold and the throttle body
assembly, as sharp tools may damage the gasket surfaces.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. A new gasket, if necessary.
2. The throttle body assembly.
3. The throttle body retaining nuts and bolts (3). Tighten the throttle body retaining nuts and bolts to 10 Nm (7 ft lb).
4. The IAC valve, TP sensor, MAF sensor, and ECT sensor electrical connectors.
5. The accelerator control and cruise control cables. Inspect

Check for complete throttle opening and closing positions by operating the accelerator pedal. Also check for poor carpet fit under the
accelerator pedal.

The throttle should operate freely without binding between full closed and wide open throttle. Refer to the Accelerator Controls portion of this
section, for additional information on accelerator controls.
6. The accelerator control cable bracket.
7. The air intake tube.
8. Refill the radiator to replace the lost coolant.
