Alternator: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable and remove serpentine drive belt.
2. Disconnect electrical connector from alternator and battery positive terminal from "BAT terminal.
3. Remove charcoal canister solenoid from alternator brace.
4. Remove bolt attaching alternator to rear brace, Fig. 4.
5. Remove bolts attaching alternator to drive belt tensioner.
6. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Torque mounting bolt (8) to 20 ft. lbs. and mounting bolt (11) to 38 ft. lbs.
b. Torque rear brace bolt to 22 ft. lbs.
