Fig. 7 Cutaway View Of Auburn Type Limited Slip Differential.

These models use an Auburn Type limited slip differential Fig. 7  which can not be serviced.

1. Remove case side bearings using tool No. J-22888 or equivalent.

Note: When removing the side differential case bearings, you may discover that recommended tool J 22888 does not work because some limited-slip
differential cases do not have notches for the jaws of the puller.  Use tool J 34168 to press the bearing off the case.

2. Remove all but two opposite ring gear attaching bolts, then loosen the two remaining bolts.
3. Loosen ring gear by tapping on bolts, then remove ring gear from differential.
4. This limited slip rear axle case is not serviceable. If differential case is not satisfactory, replace complete assembly.
