Some 1983 and early 1984 Camaros with Warner gear fivespeed manual transmissions may exhibit oil leakage at the speedo driven gear sleeve area. The
zinc sleeve (Figure 1) tends to brinell wear which causes leakage.

A new steel sleeve, P/N 3869912, (Figure 2) has been released and is in production in vehicles built after VIN N165187 at Norwood and VIN L193035
at Van Nuys.
Whenever a leak is diagnosed in this area, it is imperative that the sleeve and seal be replaced. The sleeve, P/N 3869912, is part of a kit, P/N 345215,
which includes a new seal and instructions.
