Some 1982 3.8L engines may encounter cold driveability conditions such as hesitation or backfire during the first 1.0 mile of driving. Unstable or rough
idle has also been encountered on some "B" cars with the LC3 engine.

A new PROM has been released for service for two (2) purposes:

(1)

to improve cold driveability in .3 to 1.0 mile range.

(2)

to increase curb idle speed from 550 rpm to 600 rpm in drive, A/C off in "B" cars only.

The following chart gives the PROM usage.
